Fitness Tracker, Amazon Alexa built-in, hi-res screen, customizable color watch-face, heart-rate tracker, sleep monitor, notifications, alarms, water-resistant, and 10-14 day battery that recharges in a little more than an hour (special charging cable provided). Wyze’s Wyze Band does all this and more, for $25. I have been using mine for a couple months now and I really like it. The screen is normally blank, then with a twist of the wrist (which only sometimes works), or a slight touch of the watch face, the watch lights up and shows the time, or allows you to navigate to other apps.
Other than telling time and vibrating when alarms go off, my use is relatively limited, in part due to the fact that the watch face is small and the screen is fairly hard to read (my problem, not the watch’s fault). One useful thing the watch does do is tell me when I have been sitting too long and to ‘get moving’. Of course I ignore this message since I’ll be darned if I’m gonna let a tech gadget tell me what to do. That’s my wife’s job!
So really, how good can this $25 device be? In my experience, it’s worth every penny and more. This is very well designed and executed device that happens to be reasonably priced, kind of like Wyze’s $20 Wyze Cam, or their $30 Wyze Cam Pan (I own these), or their $60 home security system with monitoring (which I’m seriously considering). Also on the horizon is their new Wyze Watch (for $20), which I just pre-ordered. And NO, I do not need another watch.
But as you know, I do this for YOU. I’ll buy it and let you know if it’s worth it or not. It looks very promising, so I’m expecting great things from Wyze once again. Here’s a picture of the watch (looks kind of familiar doesn’t it?):
With Christmas around the corner and a new Apple watch on your list, all I can say is, “you might want to wait”. This watch might just do everything you need and more (without the fruit-logo of course), for a mere fraction of the cost of an Apple watch. Just sayin’…
My cheapskate mindset is to buy things like these at a low-enough price point that if it gets lost, damaged, or just plain stops working, I have lost very little. And, who’s to know it’s NOT an Apple watch anyway?
OK, enough for now. Stand by for my test results if and when this new watch ever arrives.
Thanks for listening, and all the best this holiday season!
Update (sort of): It’s February 12, ’21 and my new watch hasn’t arrived yet. And since I paid through Amazon versus using my Wyze account, I have no idea when it will arrive. This is sort of par for the course for Wyze pre-orders (esp. when paying through Amazon), and the product always shows up – sometime. Also, I decided to ditch ADT for good and invested in the Wyze security system with monitoring. I’m not saving anything initially by going this route, but after next year, I’ll be saving a bundle. Plus, if you ever read ADT reviews from people trying to cancel their service with ADT, it reads like a Steve King horror story. I expect the same, so I am starting my quest to disassociate myself from ADT early, figuring I’ll have it all sorted out by the time my contract ends next year.
